It’s an exciting time at the Children’s Museum of Richmond! CMoR is seeking to grow its Community Outreach and Family Engagement programs with a Coordinator who will play an active role in building relationships with community partners. This position is responsible for delivering quality and engaging educational programs to support the healthy growth of children and families. The Community Outreach & Family Engagement Coordinator provides school readiness and The Basics focused programming to caregivers and children in under-resourced areas of the community.
This is a full time position with benefits that reports to the Community Outreach Manager.
Responsibilities:
This position will develop and maintain partner relationships to advance the Museum’s mission. The Community Outreach & Family Engagement Coordinator will provide Basics playgroups, Lego Build the Change programming, and school readiness programming to community partners. Additionally, this position will support our partner RPS schools Woodville and Oak Grove Bellemeade. This role serves as a resource to caregivers to connect them with services and information on parenting. In addition, the Community Outreach & Family Engagement Coordinator provides support to the Community Outreach Manager for in-house performances, off-site fairs/festivals, and Book Bank connections and serves as part of the Education team.

Candidates should have a demonstrable passion for the mission and work of the Museum and a strong desire to make a difference in their community. Candidates should have strong written and verbal communication and interpersonal skills and the ability to maintain confidentiality. Candidates should be flexible and adaptable with the ability to recognize when pacing or programming should be adjusted to meet the needs of the situation. Candidates should have the ability to work with others from diverse backgrounds and varying educational levels.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
Candidates should have a Bachelor’s Degree in education, social work, or equivalent relevant experience. Candidates should have knowledge of child development and effective parenting techniques; they should also have experience teaching or working with adult learners. Knowledge of Richmond non-profit organizations, community groups, local support agencies, and other resources is required.
Candidates should have a valid unrestricted driver’s license with clean driving record and the ability to pass a background check. This position requires sitting, walking, standing, and lifting up to thirty pounds. Occasional nights and frequent weekend hours may be required.
Compensation:
$20 to $23 per hour
