Richmond, VA – [September 12, 2024] — The Children’s Museum of Richmond, a nonprofit organization dedicated to fostering early childhood development by engaging families in learning through play is pleased to announce a generous contribution of $47,000 from Sentara Health to assist with its immersive Hospital and Ambulance exhibits at the Downtown location, as well as the 88th year of the Legendary Santa program.

The $47,000 donation from Sentara will be utilized by the Children’s Museum to support the organization’s nonprofit mission to inspire growth in all children by engaging families in learning through play. Community support from Sentara ensures the Museum can continue to maintain and update their popular Hospital and Ambulance exhibits, which give families the opportunity to role-play and become familiar with tools, language, and measurements they may see and experience during a real-life doctor’s visit. Sentara’s investment also supports the production of one of Richmond’s favorite holiday traditions, Legendary Santa, which has brought joy to families for generations.

“Sentara Health’s commitment to healthy living is also a core tenant of the Children’s Museum. The hospital and ambulance exhibits at our Downtown location are a great way for children and families to experience and learn about health in the fun, playful environment of the Museum. We are also eagerly anticipating and preparing for Legendary Santa’s 88th season, which will delight children of all ages (0-100+), bringing the hope of the Santa season to our Richmond community. We are thrilled, and most grateful, for this sponsorship from Sentara Health,” says executive director Danielle Ripperton.

This contribution from Sentara reinforces their shared commitment to creating healthier communities through partnerships with organizations and individuals.

“Sentara’s collaboration with the Children’s Museum of Richmond is a fun and innovative way to educate children of the importance of living a healthy lifestyle,” said Sherry Norquist, executive director of community engagement and impact at Sentara Health. “This includes regular doctor visits and checkups. While seeing the doctor can be stressful, the ambulance and hospital exhibits provide an entertaining way to help familiarize children with the process and alleviate the fears associated with a doctor’s visit.”
