I am so excited to introduce you to Ali, our wonderful bilingual educator!
Family Engagement is a vital part of our mission at the Children’s Museum of Richmond and Ali Sullivan brings a warmth and passion that is immediately felt and will be a huge asset as she works with families in our community. In her first week, Ali has already started building relationships and her Spanish language skills have been utilized as we introduced her to staff at Sacred Heart Center, where the Museum has a strong partnership serving the Latino families and teaching The Basics. I am so excited to let her introduce herself and tell you a little about her history and interests.
I am so excited about being a part of CMoR and working with a team that cares so much about their work with and for the children.
I am from Bogota, Colombia, and came to the U.S. in 1994. I have been in early childhood education for over 20 years, starting at a full immersion language school in Indianapolis and then Montessori schools in Key West, FL, and Charlottesville, VA.
I find joy in inspiring children to love learning through art, movement, storytelling, and playfulness. One of my greatest passions is children’s literacy. The museum’s mission resonated so much with what I wanted to do- contribute to families, connect with the Hispanic community, and serve as a support in their children’s education.
In my spare time, I like creating colorful acrylic on canvas paintings of animals. I also love bike riding and hiking. I am married and have a daughter who attends William and Mary.
I’m looking forward to exploring Richmond’s natural areas, and I’m ready to start this new chapter with the Children’s Museum and embrace the adventures ahead!
Now that you have a little background on Ali, we hope you will join us in welcoming her to the CMoR family! Come visit us at our downtown location- you might find Ali in her favorite spot, milking the cow!
