Make a Donation to The Book Bank

The Book Bank requires approximately 25,000 books donated each year to meet the needs of Central Virginia’s children. The Children’s Book Bank accepts new and like-new donations of children’s books at our Downtown Children’s Museum location. Your donations of like-new books are distributed directly to underserved children and organizations that serve low-income families.

You can make a difference in a child’s life with your donation of just one book.

One study found that in middle income neighborhoods the ratio is 13 books per child; in low-income neighborhoods, the ratio is one book for every 300 children. (Neuman, Susan B. and David K. Dickinson, ed. Handbook of Early Literacy Research, Volume 2. New York, NY: 2006)

Your business, organization, school or family can organize a book drive.

Contact Kim Jones Clark at kclark@cmorva.org to get a guide and flyers to make it easy!

The Book Bank also welcomes monetary donations. By donating directly, your donation dollars stretch twice as far. Our discount book sources allow us to purchase high quality books at about half the price of retail so more children benefit.
