Communications & Volunteer Manager

The Children’s Museum is searching for an energetic and enthusiastic Communications & Volunteer Manager to help us achieve our mission of inspiring growth in all children by engaging families in learning through play. This is a full time position with benefits that reports to the Director of Development & Marketing. This position is based out of the downtown location.

Responsibilities:

The Communications and Volunteer Manager will assist all departments in their efforts to engage the general public in the Museum’s mission. This position will assist in managing the Museum’s social media and website, design brand-consistent museum signage and literature for exhibits and communal spaces, and write bimonthly newsletters to members, volunteers, and other stakeholders This position also manages volunteers and interns recruitment, screening, and engagement of community volunteers. This position may occasionally require work on nights and weekends.

Candidates should have a demonstrable passion for the mission and work of the Museum. Successful candidates will have strong communication and interpersonal skills and have the ability to work with others from diverse backgrounds.  The most successful candidate will be an independent thinker and problem solver with the ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines successfully.

Skills and Abilities:

Candidates should experience working with non-profits whether through volunteer work, board service, or employment. Candidates should have experience working with social media tools, email marketing platforms (Constant Contact, MailChimp, or similar. Candidates should have experience in graphic design and proficiency with Adobe Creative Suite, Canva or similar design program, and MS Office Products. Experience in WordPress and relational databases is desired. Experience managing volunteers; experience using a volunteer management database is preferred

Candidates must have a clean driving record and ability to pass a background check. Candidates should have the ability to lift up to 30 pounds.
