Our Play Guides are the ambassadors of the Children’s Museum! These positions embody our mission to inspire growth in all children by engaging families in learning through play. Come support families in our community by welcoming them to the first cultural institution children visit, creating a love of learning that lasts a lifetime.
Responsibilities:
Play Guides are the face of the Museum and engage with all guests in a friendly, professional manner. These positions check-in guests, operate the cash register, sell museum memberships, and respond to guest concerns, questions, or comments. Play Guides help to maintain a safe, fun, and extraordinarily clean environment for guests, maintaining cleaning protocols including cleaning restrooms throughout the day, emptying trash, sanitizing exhibits throughout the day, and mopping floors. These positions may also lead dance parties, floor activities, and story times.
These are part time positions with varying schedules. The Museum’s operating hours are Tuesday through Sunday from 9:30-5.
Skills and Abilities:
Successful candidates will be friendly and enthusiastic, and enjoy working with children and families. Excellent customer service skills are a must! Experience operating a cash register and/or in a retail environment is required. Experience working with children is ideal.
Candidates should be able to pass a background check. Candidates should have the ability to lift up to 30 pounds. These positions require walking, standing, and lifting for the majority of the shift.
